How to Sell

How Jake uses Rendy to win new clients

Rendy Spotlight: Jake Freedman

Jake runs MT Property Photography — 250 shoots a year, 3-person team.

Every other spotlight in this series has been about making more money per shoot. Jake's story is a bit different...

He used Rendy to win 10+ new clients...

Jake Freedman

Here's how: Jake identified agents who were already using other photography companies and generated Rendy videos from their existing listing photos — for free. The agents saw the quality, started talking to Jake, and ended up booking MT Property Photography for their next shoot. "We poached a lot of clients from other real estate photographers by first generating some videos for them — and then them ending up using us for their next shoot instead. See my full convo with Jake below 🙂"

Our full conversation with Jake Freedman

Q: Tell us about your background — how many shoots do you handle and what does your team look like?

We do around 250 shoots a year of average homes, plus about 150 additional touch-ups, exterior onlys, land, and vacant lots. There's one of us full-time — that's me — and two additional part-time photographers.

Q: How do you add Rendy — is it an upsell or built in? How do you position it?

We built it into a package we call the real estate listing package. The way we positioned it: Zillow and Realtor are very algorithm-heavy and push listings to the top that have the best looking media and the most of it. So when you're uploading to MLS, you want to fill all those media fields — photos, videos, virtual tours. We framed it like that and it took off right away. We were selling it for $100 extra. We also sent out marketing offering to generate walkthrough videos for agents who already had finished photos — even if they weren't our clients. That ended up being one of our biggest wins. We generated videos for agents using other photographers, they saw the quality, and ended up booking us for their next shoot.

Q: What results have you seen — any impact on revenue, client reactions, biggest win?

The biggest win was using it as a prospecting tool to bring in new clients. Generating videos for agents who were already working with other photographers gave us a foot in the door that nothing else had before.

Q: What advice would you give to someone who isn’t using Rendy yet? How should they start?

Just start using it. It's easy to sell and easy to show the quality. The pitch is simple: this sort of thing used to cost a lot more — now it costs this. You'd be dumb not to do it. If I were starting over, I'd price it higher from day one. I didn't fully appreciate how much Rendy would evolve as a product — new features, text, all of that. Clients don't realize it keeps getting better. I'd sell it at a higher price and then re-introduce it as the product grows.
